Marlett H. | Gabel Branch

Fourteen-year-old Marlett Herrada is a tenth grader at Bioscience High School and a dedicated member of the Gabel Boys & Girls Club. Raised by hardworking parents, she learned early the importance of staying positive—her family’s “lemon cake out of sour grapes” mindset guiding her through new challenges.

At the Club, Marlett found community, confidence, and mentors like JJ, Ms. Luna, and Mr. Erik who encouraged her growth. Through programs in financial literacy, sports, and online safety, she gained real-world skills and lasting friendships.

Her passion for nursing grew through volunteer work at St. Joseph’s Hospital and helping maintain a community garden that supported local families.

Marlett hopes to study nursing at the University of Arizona—or out of state—and dreams of a future spent caring for others with empathy and optimism.
