Mesa Arts Academy
No better place to learn
Mesa Arts Academy offers a rigorous K - 8 academic program that emphasizes the arts and technology. We have discovered that by integrating the arts and technology into our academic program we create a more hands-on learning environment that better fits the learning styles of our diverse population of students. To accomplish this, we employ only Arizona certified teachers in areas and seek out partnerships with volunteer agencies, schools of higher learning and community businesses. A variety of artists from the community work with our students creating a positive climate that celebrates the gifts of each student. Recently, the Arizona Charter School Association rated Mesa Arts Academy as one of the top three schools in Arizona for increasing student achievement and the Arizona Department of Education honored us with the 2011 Math Excellence Award.

Free for MAA Students this Summer: Health Adventure Quest
Health Adventure Quest is a virtual program designed to engage K-8th grade students in at-home activities that promote nutrition, physical activity, and gardening. All sessions are safely monitored and filmed LIVE by faculty, students, and staff within ASU and the College of Health Solutions.
For example, the ‘Cooking Adventures’ are cooking demonstrations where students have the ability to interact with our own certified Chef, Chef Kent, as they create a healthy kid-friendly dish.

Our classrooms are enriched with numerous volunteers from partnerships with Mesa Community College, ASU, and the Volunteer Center. Federal grants provide an aide in every classroom to assist the teacher and students. The Grant Woods - Mesa Branch offers after-school care onsite, as well as the National Free and Reduced breakfast and lunch program to those who qualify.
Our school day is extended by an hour to allow us to both have a rigorous academic program and still have time to devote to our arts programs. Our art classes vary by grade level, with younger children taking a variety of art classes, including Drama, Musical Theatre, Dance and Visual Arts. Older children select from elective classes, including Beginning and Advanced Art, Guitar, Dance, Photography, Yearbook, Drama, Service Learning, Multimedia, and Musical Theatre. Parents are required to be active participants in this process with a daily requirement to check and sign “home-school binders” and a mandate that they contribute a minimum of 50 hours of family participation each year.
STUDENT APPLICATIONS
Enrollment Request:
Students are accepted into the Academy on a first-come first-served basis, with siblings of enrolled students, children of staff and continuing students given priority. A sibling is defined as a brother or sister, or minor residing in the same household. The entire registration packet must be completed and submitted to the school before a student can be accepted for enrollment. If there is no space available for new students at particular grade levels, those children will be placed on a waiting list and their families will be notified as soon as an opening is available.
