Boys & Girls Clubs of America Honors Marcia Mintz with Prestigious Leadership Award

BGCAZ CEO Recognized for Exceptional Leadership and Service to Arizona Youth

PHOENIX – Boys & Girls Clubs of the Valley is proud to announce that our President & CEO Marcia Mintz has received the 2025 Thomas G. Garth Character and Courage Award—the highest honor Boys & Girls Clubs of America bestows on a Club professional.

The prestigious award was presented during BGCA’s 119th national conference in San Diego, recognizing Marcia’s extraordinary leadership, particularly during the pandemic when she ensured Clubs remained open for children of essential workers.

“This recognition belongs to our incredible team,” said Mintz. “Every day, our staff shows up with passion and dedication to create opportunities for young people across Arizona. I’m honored to accept this award on behalf of the entire BGCAZ family.”

Under Marcia’s eight-year leadership, Boys & Girls Clubs of the Valley has expanded to 32 sites across four counties, becoming the fifth largest system in the United States. She has championed critical initiatives including:

• Leading the successful merger of two large organizations
• Pioneering behavioral health support in Clubs
• Raising over $20 million to support Clubs statewide
• Advocating for legislative changes to make out-of-school programs eligible for assistance dollars

Beyond professional accomplishments, Marcia was recognized for her genuine connections with youth and families. Many Youth of the Year graduates continue to reach out to her as a mentor years later, and she regularly helps teens secure career opportunities through her extensive network.

Join us in congratulating Marcia on this well-deserved recognition!
