Service-Learning Volunteers

Our Volunteer Services Team can assist in helping adult learning students achieve their service-learning goals through voluntary placements across our organization. Many students complete their required hours and learning objectives by serving in the Clubs, while other students may choose opportunities supporting Operations or administrative functions.

Ready to begin? Reach out to Volunteer Services Manager to start your application:

Volunteer Application

Once the student’s volunteer application is approved, the following steps need to be completed:

  • 1 Scheduling an interview with the designated placement supervisor. Volunteer Services provides the student with the supervisor’s contact information once the student’s application is accepted and the placement location is confirmed.
  • 2 Passing BGCAZ’s required background check. There is no cost to students for this online process. Volunteer Services provides the link once the student’s volunteer application is accepted.
  • 3 Completing volunteer orientation. Volunteer Services provides the link for this online training once the student’s application is approved. Some placements required the student to complete additional online training sessions, including but not limited to Club Safety Practices, First-Aid/CPR certification, and program specific training modules.
  • 4 The student confirms their start date and volunteer schedule with the designated placement supervisor. This may be done during the volunteer interview or once volunteer orientation is completed.

Questions about Service-Learning Volunteer placements can be directed to volunteer@bgcaz.org

Additional Notes

• Training time is counted as volunteer service time and is included in the total hours for the placement.
• BGCAZ can confirm a service-learning placement and complete any school or course required paperwork/forms once the student’s application is received and a clear background check is received.

Internships, Practicums, & Federal Work Study Placements

A student requesting a voluntary internship or voluntary practicum/externship, or is referred to BGCAZ by their learning institution for a federal financial aid work-study placement needs to contact our Volunteer Services Manager directly by email message to confirm availability. Once availability is confirmed, the student needs to complete the steps to securing a service-learning placement previously noted.
